Behind the Scenes: The Countdown is on
Well, the countdown clock has officially hit single digits. This is our last week of “normal life” before we trade in 9-5 days for highways, parking lots, and a whole lot of crazy unknowns.
Spoiler: it’s been messy, crazy, fun, and a little emotional.
We celebrated our oldest son, Bradley, turning 25...
Packing…packing…and then packing some more
Some people fold clothes into neat packing cubes and are super type A. Us? We are trying to take everything we possibly can with us…including our grown kids LOL
Mr. Lemon AKA “our van” has become a giant game of Tetris where every inch matters. Honestly, there’s always “one more thing” we forgot we need, until we realize there’s literally nowhere left to put it. Space is already becoming an issue.
Lots of Goodbyes happening
This week is a blur of “lasts” last week of work, last time walking into the office (way more emotional than we thought it would be) and last time sleeping in a King Size Bed.
It’s bittersweet. We’re saying goodbye to routines we’ve had for years…but also, we’re saying hello to freedom, open roads, and whatever crazy adventures Mr. Lemon has in store for us. (Probably another leak. Or three.) *Heavy sigh
Our To-Do List That Never Seems to End
We thought we’d be “done” by now. Funny, right? Instead, our days look like this:
Fix the mystery oil leak (again).
Pack things we thought we packed already (again).
Wonder if we’re actually ready (always).
Downsize, downsize, downsize
Pro tip: you’re never really ready. You just go.
The Big Feelings
Underneath all the chaos, we’re feeling it. Nervous. Excited. Overwhelmed. Grateful. Terrified. Did we mention excited?
This experience represents the start of a new chapter. The kind where we find out if our wild idea really works. The kind where we stop talking about “someday” and finally live it. And we have 6 months to see if this will actually work.
What’s Next
This week, we head out. No turning back. No safety net. Just two wannabe vanlifers, a questionable van named Mr. Lemon, and a YouTube camera following every messy, funny, and “what were we thinking” moment. Let’s just see how long it takes until we find a different van…hint, hint.
